DIY Plastic Bag Holder

If you save plastic shopping bags to reuse as garbage can liners or doggie poo scoopers, it's not long before you have a chaos under your sink or in the cabinet, closet, or drawer where you're storing them.

Yeah, you could buy a plastic bag holder but making one from a paper towel tube is free, easy, and let's you check off a couple Rs from the Reduce-Reuse-Recycle mantra. Yippee!

My friend/ hostess sent me this photo with the text, "Did you do this?" Yes, I did. I am obsessed with this organizing technique!
Here's what you do:
  1. Take a paper towel tube out of the recycling bin. If you don't have one, honestly you can use the tube while paper towels still surround it.
  2. Stuff plastic bags into the tube. You could probably cram about a dozen bags in there.
  3. Feel like a champion!

You can use toilet paper tubes to store produce and bread bags in the freezer. This way you'll have them handy to reuse for holding food scraps for community composting.
