How to Blanch Almonds - VIDEO

I accidentally blanched some almonds last night. Apparently, it's really easy to do!

I shot this quick video to share with you how to remove skin from almonds quickly for those times when you actually want blanched almonds.

If you hate videos, even short ones, read on to learn what to do.

How to Blanch Almonds
  1. Add almonds to boiling water.
  2. Let almonds boil for a minute.
  3. Drain water.
  4. Squeeze gently and the skin falls right off!
I discovered this while quickly defrosting almonds I had pre-soaked and stuck in the freezer for future use. I normally defrost almonds in the fridge or on the counter top but I didn't remember I needed them until it was time to cook dinner. (I needed the almonds to make vegan broccoli pesto.)

I boiled the nuts to defrost them. I was so surprised when the skin came flying off. I've never blanched almonds before because I always assumed it would be a pain in the neck. Boy was I wrong!

What will you make with your blanched almonds?
